Raila, Uhuru, Ruto Among Leaders Paying Tribute to Simeon Nyachae

The death of Simeon Nyachae has elicited solemn emotions among his political friends and foes across the country.

Nyachae breathed his last at the age of 88 and leaves behind 4 wives, 20 children and hundreds of grand and great grandchildren.

Following the sad news, several leaders have sent their condolences to the family.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said

I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Mzee Simeon Nyachae, a distinguished son of Kenya, a friend and a man whose contribution to the making of the Kenyan nation will remain with us for eternity.

On his part Gideon Moi mourned the late Nyachae saying:

Simeon Nyachae was a politician of repute. His strict sense of discipline and hard work saw him rise from a District Officer to Chief Secretary in the civil service. He was an astute businessman whose footprints are found in almost all sectors of the economy.

Raila Odinga wrote on his Twitter handle:

My heartfelt and sincere condolences go out to the family of former Cabinet Minister, MP, and long-serving career civil servant Simeon Nyachae. The Abagusii community has lost one of its most illustrious sons. May He Rest In Eternal Peace.

Despite the past animosity between the two leaders, DP William Ruto mourned mzee by saying:

Simeon Nyachae was a progressive, selfless and steadfast leader who was genuinely passionate about public service, politics and uniting people in a common cause.

Super Cabinet Secretary and Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was lost for words as he described his emotions. He wrote:

Senior Counsel Senator James Orengo took to his Twitter handle and condoled as follows.
